A beautiful garden is the product of a creative mind, careful planning, considerable experience and years of dedication. It’s a pursuit of perfection that’s reflected in the way we design and manufacture our tools.
Hand tools in harmony with nature
Everything we do is designed to make your gardening not just simpler but more pleasurable. We don’t make power tools which disturb the peace and turn gardening into an industrial activity. Instead, we use advanced materials and engineering to produce elegant, lightweight tools that act like an extension of your body, giving you extra power and control and reducing strain.
Our hedge clippers, for example, give vastly more cutting power than conventional ones. The gear mechanism in our lopper increases cutting power by enormously – which means we can make the handles shorter and lighter.
This is a level of performance and quality that you can really only appreciate properly by exploring our tools. Don’t just take our word for it: see for yourself. Hold our tools and you’ll feel the quality in the shape, the weight and the balance.
Our tools also demonstrate our longstanding belief in durability and economy. Things shouldn’t be made to be thrown away – they should be designed beautifully for years of effective use.
Ergonomic for effortless gardening
While gardening is good exercise, it should never be painful. Badly designed tools can turn your honest endeavour into painful long-term injuries. Backs and hands, particularly, are at risk if you’re forced to adopt a bad posture or put in too much effort.
How much is too much? Well, to avoid strain injuries, you don’t want to have to use more than about 20% of your maximum hand strength on a tool. Any more than that and regular use could be storing up problems. The right tool should feel almost effortless.
This is why we make tools that are lighter, more powerful and have ergonomic mechanisms so gardening is easier. Most of all, our designers spend hours studying how people use our tools, refining them constantly and making them more comfortable to use, so that you can keep your garden and yourself in pristine condition.
